BPA is a scary chemical that we should take seriously. Also called bisphenol A, BPA has been linked to cancer, heart disease, mood disorder by changing the behaviour in pregnant women and girls up to age 3, neurological disorders, infertility, diabetes, and more.
Other countries such as France and Canada have already moved to ban BPA in all food packaging. Please speak up Americans, it’s time the American government set better health standards for the American people!! Here is a list of 6 “kid-friendly” canned foods that kids love, some even organic, that contain BPA.
Before the FDA decides whether or not to continue allowing food packaging that leaches BPA into our food, they want to hear from “the people”. That’s you, me, our friends and family. Click here for the ready made form that you can sign and email to the FDA. Hurry, we only have until March 31!
This comes about after a 2008 lawsuit and petition asking that the FDA to ban potentially hazardous components, which also shows that a petition signed by people can make a difference. So sign and email our ready made form above!
Let the American government know that you will not stand for toxic chemicals in packaging served to your family!
We wisemommies believe strongly in watching your foods from the top 10 dirtiest list and eating healthy to being environmentally safe. Personally, I always felt good about serving my child organic canned beans and chicken noodle soup, when pregnant, until I found out they contained BPA within the packaging. This turned my stomach. Please help us in taking a stance against the FDA by telling them you want the BPA OUT of YOUR food’s packaging! Please pass this on to as many as you can…and many thanks for standing with us!
We follow the EWG website closely and have written other posts regarding toxic chemicals and products within your home.

My friend, and Kappa sister from college, Sarah Bravo, co-founded Camp C.O.P.E., a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. This camp helps children of deployed and wounded service members cope with the transitions and effects of war, deployments, and injuries sustained by their soldiers. The camp serves with absolutely no cost to the children or their families.
Camp C.O.P.E. provides direct and indirect, age-appropriate, fun play-activities tailored to help the children cope better emotionally. Improved grades, an increase in healthy relationships as well as behavior are charted improvements. Parents are also educated for helping their children at home. Highly qualified and trained counselors deliver fun and therapeutic activities in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding.
News and Media coverage for this great camp has been debuted on Jimmy Kimmel, Oprah’s Live Your Best Life Walk, Dallas Morning News, KDH News, CBS News, ABC News, and more. To read a recent and fantastic article updated with some pictures and examples for the camp: The Fort Hood Sentinel.
This is a direct link to Camp C.O.P.E.’s website where you can also donate.
Even back in college, Sarah had such a caring and giving heart. She was always someone who thought of others and what she could do to volunteer or help someone else in need. I have a lot of good memories from our Kappa days and after, and feel blessed to know Sarah, and to see her spirit making a difference in the lives of so many others. Oh, and did I mention that Sarah is a first-time mom? That’s another great mother to join in with all of us on this road of motherhood.

We wisemommies are supporting a movement in the U.S. to give children around the world the shot at life they deserve, no matter where they live. Tell your friends, your family and your community about the importance of global childhood vaccines. Ask them to join you in speaking up for children who need vaccines to survive and thrive.
